Scrolling Foliage Etched Glass Set from The Met Museum

The elegant design of our etched-glass tumbler set echoes the scrolling foliage pattern found on a piece of British blackwork embroidery in The Met collection. Blown in Poland and etched in the US, this handsome glassware coordinates with our matching decanter. Made about 1590, the original textile features silk and gilded-metal-wrapped thread on the finest Flemish linen. A form of embroidery using black silk thread, blackwork was popular in England for garments and textiles under Henry VIII and remained in vogue through the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
